Safe Job Search
Occupational health professionals are targeted by job scams — especially for Gulf and overseas roles. Read this before you respond to any offer, on OHCjob.com or anywhere else.
1. The one rule: never pay for a job
- OHCjob.com never charges candidates. Not for registration, verification, applying, "priority", training, a "visa file", a medical, an "agreement" or a ticket.
- Genuine employers pay their own recruitment costs. Under Indian law (Emigration Act, 1983), UAE, Saudi and Qatari law, and the ILO Employer-Pays Principle, workers must not bear recruitment fees.
- If anyone asks you for money in connection with a job you found here, it is a scam. Stop, keep the messages, and report it (section 6).
2. How employers on OHCjob.com are checked
Every company is verified before its first job appears: work-email domain, business registration or trade licence, tax registration, website and LinkedIn page, and a call with an authorised person. Jobs are reviewed before publication until a company has a clean track record, and automated checks look for fee requests, off-platform payment language and copied text. Every job carries a "Report this job" link; three reports pause it automatically. Verified employers show a badge on their company page and job cards.
Verification reduces risk; it does not remove it. Use your judgement.
3. Red flags
- A "recruiter" who contacts you only on WhatsApp or Telegram, from a personal number, or from a free webmail address (gmail, yahoo, hotmail) claiming to represent a large company.
- An offer without an interview, or an interview that takes two minutes.
- A salary far above the normal range for the role and country.
- Pressure to decide today, or "only 2 seats left".
- Requests for your passport scan, Aadhaar, PAN, bank details or a photo of your card before any contract.
- "Pay the visa/medical/insurance fee now and the employer will reimburse you."
- An offer letter with spelling mistakes, a generic logo, no company address or a company that does not appear on the licensing authority's register.
- Being asked to sign a contract in a language you cannot read without a translation.
4. Check before you accept — especially overseas jobs
Verify the employer
- Search the company's official website and LinkedIn page; call the switchboard number from the website, not the one in the message.
- For UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain: check the employer or hospital on the relevant health-authority register (DHA Sheryan, DOH Abu Dhabi, MOHAP, SCFHS, QCHP/DHP, MOH Oman, MOH Kuwait, NHRA Bahrain).
- For Indian companies: check the CIN on the MCA portal and the GSTIN on the GST portal.
Check your own eligibility
- Confirm which licence or registration the destination country needs (for example DataFlow verification and a DHA/DOH/SCFHS eligibility letter or Prometric exam), and who pays for it.
- Confirm who pays for the visa, flight, medical, insurance and accommodation; get it in the written offer.
Indian nationals going abroad
- Recruitment for ECR countries (including the Gulf) must go through a Registered Recruiting Agent listed on eMigrate (emigrate.gov.in) and a foreign employer registered on eMigrate. Nurses recruited abroad may only be recruited through the State-run agencies and RAs notified by the Ministry of External Affairs.
- Check the RA's registration number on eMigrate before dealing with any agent. The maximum service charge an RA may collect from a worker is fixed by law; anything above it is illegal.
- Keep copies of your contract, offer letter and every payment receipt.
Everyone
- Read the contract before signing; check working hours, notice period, probation, exit rules and whether the employer will hold your passport (they must not).
- Know your country's embassy contact in the destination country.
5. Protect your account and data
- OHCjob.com staff will never ask for your password or OTP.
- Use the in-platform messaging first; move to phone or video only once you have verified the employer.
- Do not upload documents we do not ask for. We never request Aadhaar, PAN, passport scans, health records or bank details.
- Use "Block company" to stop an employer from seeing or contacting you.
6. Report a scam
- Click Report this job on the listing, or email support@ohcjob.com with screenshots.
- India: report cyber fraud at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930; overseas recruitment complaints to the Protector of Emigrants (emigrate.gov.in) or the MADAD portal (madad.gov.in).
- UAE: MoHRE 800 60; Saudi Arabia: Ministry of Human Resources 19911; Qatar: Ministry of Labour hotline 16008; USA: FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
- If you already paid, contact your bank immediately to attempt a reversal.
We investigate every report. Confirmed fake jobs lead to a permanent ban of the company, removal of all its jobs, and notification to every applicant.
